안녕하세요, 임성락 약사 (Sun Riehm) 입니다!

성균관대학교 약대를 졸업하고 Purdue 대학에서 천연물을 이용한 항 바이러스 Drug Design을
연구한 후, Butler 대학에서 임상약학을 전공하였습니다. 월그린 (Walgreens) 과 코스코
(Costco) 약국에서 근무하였으며 또한 일라이 릴리 제약 본사 의약정보부에서 근무하였고
현재는 인디애나 의과대학 부속병원(Indiana University Health)에서 임상약사로 근무하고
있습니다.

또한 한국의 약업신문사 컬럼리스트로서 임상약학 정보를 의사/약사/간호사에게
전달하였으며, 서울 소재 약학대학과 대학병원 그리고 사설 약사 교육 기관 등에서 오프라인과
온라인을 통해 약사교육을 담당하였습니다. 미국 TV 채널 13 과 Inside Indiana Business TV
프로그램에 출연하여 허벌 제품과 약의 상호작용 그리고 컴파운딩 약에 대한 정보를 미국

For over 20 years, I have been actively searching for diet supplements and medical foods that
can improve general health conditions, especially those that target the eyes, improve arthritis,
and boost energy.

Currently, I am working as a clinical pharmacist with a research background in medicinal
chemistry & pharmacognosy. I have also worked for a medical information department at one
of the largest drug companies in the US.

However, after recent cancer diagnosis of close family members have changed my research
interest to natural supplements that can boost immune cells to fight cancer cells and to mitigate chemotherapy-related adverse reactions.

The bottom line is I want data that show the supplements have positive outcomes and not just
placebo effects, I also reviewed supplements for the following:

USP certification
Certification of zero radioactive materials and heavy metals contamination
FDA registered cGMP approved by the FDA
Proven key ingredients
Any potential Drug-Food interactions
Side effects and sensitivity
Any supporting scientific journals
Patients’ positive testimonials

I understand diet supplements are not FDA approved medications, but there should be natural foods or diet supplements out there that can improve or even cure certain medical conditions, right? As an example is the 3000 year + year use of Willow Bark as a pain reliever and antipyretic. This later formed the basis of the discovery of aspirin.

Synergy is shown with many diet supplements when they are taken with prescription
medications.

In the past, I have had experience with Glucosamine for arthritis, Chitosan for cellular level communication enhancer for cancer, ginseng to boost energy, whole food organic vitamins, chelated vitamins, BHRT (Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy) for menopause in female & male, Chlorella for dermatographia/constipation/ADHD, deer antler for immune, high
performance mineral vitamins, liquid fish oil for ADHD/depression/Alzheimer, natural concentrated mineral water for diabetes, and I even reviewed the use of Penguin Cold caps for hair loss due to chemotherapy.

Currently, my clinical interests are in two natural diet supplements:

1. Bilberry extract for eye health for elderly, adolescent students, and heavy computer/smartphone users
2. Fucoidan for patients with cancer including those that are currently receiving
   chemotherapy and those that have achieved remission as well as immunocompromised patients and seniors

My sales are based on person-to-person consultation and my clients will be asked about current medication history and health conditions to better understand each person’s supplement needs.
